First, we had to chip away all of the mortar surrounding the metal door, both inside and out. Then, we removed the existing metal Bilco door, and continued the chipping until we established a level surface. Then, we installed a pressure treated 2″ x 8″ and capped it with aluminum. We installed the new Bilco door.
